Jessys Home Decorating & Interior Design Blog

Hi and welcome to my Blind 'n Style home fashions blog.  My name is Jessy, and I've had an interest in interior design and landscaping for as long as I can remember!  I love decorating my friends' and relatives' homes, as well as my own. I decided to start up this blog in order to keep a record of my projects, share tips and ideas, and post other interesting news and information related to the home decorating and interior design industry.  I welcome feedback from my readers, so please tell me what you'd like to see here!

In the meantime, Jessy's Blind Style .com will include my thoughts on:
  • How to Style Your Windows
  • How to Select the Right Blinds and Shades
  • Interior Design Advice
  • Window Blind and Shade Reviews
  • Guide to finding the perfect window blinds and roman shades
  • Shopping Online for Faux Wood Blinds and Roman Shades

Replacing our sink taps

Our one gorgeous bathroom in the house is in our basement -- doesn't that figure?  We are going to start fixing up the upstair bath that we use all the time since we're all getting a bit tired of the drab walls and imperfect tile.  I like shopping for bathrooms stuff anyway!

My first purchase is going to be a new set of taps or faucets for the sink.  We usually dye my hair in there, and the taps we have are stained from the time I decided to try black hair.  Nothing I do is able to remove the dye, and I can start using our laundry room sink to do my hair, so we might as well replace the faucet handles.

I found these taps online, and I really like them.  They're called Nostalgic Taps, I suppose because of the way the handle is very old-fashioned looking.  I love things like that, and I think we might give them a try.  Our basement bathroom is very modern and so we might as well do the upstairs one a bit differently!

I have a standing fued with my dryer.

Actually, the standing fued may be with Mike, who all too often puts clothes in to dry and sets the machine to "detect moisture" and determine when the clothes are done that way.  It doesn't work.  He knows this; I've told him a dozen or more times that the moisture setting does not work and does not adequately dry our clothes, but somehow, whenever he touches the machine he takes it off timed dry and puts on that #*&( moisture-detection setting.  Then he proceeds to remove wet clothes from the machine when it goes off, and I get to deal with them.

I've decided that there will be no moisture setting on my next dryer.  I've looked at all the dryer reviews I can find, and I am determined to find one that will work efficiently and also be able to handle the large loads I frequently run.  The one dryer review site I found even lists whether or not they have a moisture sensor, which is very convenient for me.

I hope Mike doesn't fight me on this.  He seems to like the machine we have even though it gets him in trouble with great regularity.  I guess I should be thankful that he does some of the laundry, but I just can't get over the piles of wet jeans and wrinkled shirts that are left behind when his moisture sensor goes haywire.

Off to read some more dryer reviews and contemplate my big purchase!
