Jessys Home Decorating & Interior Design Blog

Hi and welcome to my Blind 'n Style home fashions blog.  My name is Jessy, and I've had an interest in interior design and landscaping for as long as I can remember!  I love decorating my friends' and relatives' homes, as well as my own. I decided to start up this blog in order to keep a record of my projects, share tips and ideas, and post other interesting news and information related to the home decorating and interior design industry.  I welcome feedback from my readers, so please tell me what you'd like to see here!

In the meantime, Jessy's Blind Style .com will include my thoughts on:
  • How to Style Your Windows
  • How to Select the Right Blinds and Shades
  • Interior Design Advice
  • Window Blind and Shade Reviews
  • Guide to finding the perfect window blinds and roman shades
  • Shopping Online for Faux Wood Blinds and Roman Shades

You can't decorate a home without buying a home . . .

. . . And you can't buy a home without taking out some home loans, can you?  If you can, congratulations!  Wanna pay off my house too?

In all seriousness, we haven't gotten to that point in our lives just yet, but we are doing everything we can to get there.  We had to take out even more home loans when we wanted to do some remodelling projects, which was a real disappointment.  Thankfully, those second mortgages are paid offf now, and we have a greatly-improved house to live in as well.  We used the money from our home equity loan to finish the basement and make room for the new baby, and we were able to pay it back quickly so we saved some money on the interest.  I expect it will all be worth it when we sell the house.

I am getting a bit sad about moving and leaving all the work I've done behind.  We'll be painting more before we go, and I have a feeling I'm going to have to use neutral colors so as not to offend the senses of our potential buyers.  That kills me -- there is no joy in painting in shades of white and beige.  Again, it all comes back to the hardship of mortgages.  If ours were smaller, we'd be staying put and painting the house red (or some other equally cheerful color).  Such is life.  Someday soon, we'll be working on a new home in a new place, and I'll love that one even more because it will be debt-free!

Kitchen Project

I haven't been doing a whole lot of home repairs lately, since my boyfriend and I are talking about selling our house, but we did decide to have the kitchen floor tiled.  We're also going to have a backsplash put in since the wall behind our counter is stained from cooking grease and it's impossible to get the stains out of the paint.

I think I'm also going to take that as my opportunity to add some colorful kitchen gadgets as well.  I love the line of Kitchen-Aid mixers that come in just about every color of the rainbow, and I wouldn't mind leaving something like that set up on my counter all the time.  Even practical gadgets can be decorative, too, you know!

I may also pick up a pot rack so that I can display the Le Creuset cast iron cookware that I accumulated while I was working at their outlet store.  I could go nuts shopping for kitchen products.  It's too much fun to think about all the ways they can be used to create delicious meals and tasty treats -- and cooking is always so much more fun when you have a new toy to play with while you cook!
